Top Thai for service with a smile

WHEN I entered Top Thai, I was instantly transported back to my time in Thailand. I was greeted at the door by elegantly uniformed staff with the traditional Thai ‘Wai’ greeting and a warm smile I remember so well.

Entering the large main dining area, I was impressed with the subtle and elegant eastern influences visible within the earthy, natural decor and I felt instantly relaxed and at ease.

Some restaurants scream ‘Thai,’ but not at Top Thai, it is relaxed, sophisticated and unfussy with true Thai elegance and warmth, the perfect environment for romance or as a group. Even as a single diner, you would not feel uncomfortable dining here.

The excellent service was accompanied by some of the best Thai food I have tasted with an extensive menu it was difficult to choose from.

Starters consisted of Chicken Satay which were succulent and cooked to perfection and accompanied by Top Thai’s own recipe peanut sauce which was light and aromatic and an absolute delight. Top Thai prides itself on providing a variation of this sauce unlike anywhere else. TripAdvisor agrees as this restaurant has been listed in the top five restaurants in Puerto Banus and awarded a Certificate of Excellence in 2014!

Further starters were an amazing array of spring rolls. There were Duck, Vegetables and Chicken with lettuce and mint, Thai prawn cake and even a crispy duck starter with pancake and special Thai sauce. The prawn oil was light and fresh and a perfect accompaniment to the meaty and substantial prawn spring rolls.

The main course consisted of Top Thai’s signature dishes of incredible Phad Thai noodles, Green Thai Curry which was delicate and well balanced with that hint of hot spice tempered with sweet coconut and crispy duck which was beautifully tender, held together by that crispy topping we all know and love, but at Top Thai it is their own special, aromatic and delightful recipe. Together with Jasmine rice, this was a delicious meal.

Dessert did not disappoint, with a Mango and Sticky Rice dish which had perfect consistency and topped with the most amazing coconut cream I have ever tasted, this dish truly ended the meal on a high and was even accompanied by coffee with a delicate ‘Top Thai’ inscribed in the froth.

All in all, the attention to detail of the interior and the service as well as the incredibly high end quality of the food makes this restaurant one of my new favourites in the area!
