TEN people have been arrested in Almeria and Murcia accused of organising and managing two boats that were bound for Spain with 38 immigrants on board. During the operation one migrant disappeared and another drowned.
The detainees allegedly charged each immigrant €600 to get them in to Spain on the boats, which were intercepted by police in November last year, off the coast of Almeria.
Police identified 10 Algerians as those responsible for the criminal organisation and in the first phase of the police operation six suspects were arrested in Almeria, with a further four men arrested in Murcia, for crimes against the rights of foreign nationals.
