Three women arrested in Mallorca for human trafficking

THREE women have been arrested in Mallorca for recruiting other women and forcing them into prostitution.

The women were working in Mallorca, but were part of a gang that operated from Algeciras, in Andalucia, recruiting women from Paraguay by providing them with legal documents so that they could leave their home country.

The young women were then lead to a Schengen area country, and finally forced to travel to Algeciras and coerced into prostitution.

Victims had to stand long working hours and were subjected to strict controls. The money obtained through prostitution was almost entirely taken by the organisation, as they were told they had to pay a ‘debt’ for the documents they had been provided with to travel from Paraguay.

Thanks to the detention of the three women in Mallorca, who were leaders of the criminal group, authorities were able to discover the operational system of the organisation and dismantle the rest in Algeciras.
