PLANS for a designer outlet at Plaza Mayor shopping centre in Malaga are coming together.
Sonae Sierra and McArthurglen, the companies behind the new complex, have announced that ground will be broken on the first phase of the 30,000 square metre project this year, and it should be ready to open by mid-2017.
Staff selection processes are expected to begin early in 2017 for the 90 shops in phase one, which will create an estimated 700 jobs.
Although names are not yet confirmed, luxury labels including Armani, Calvin Klein, Escada and Gucci favour similar discount designer outlets run by McArthurglen in eight other European countries.
The new outlet complex, phase two of which is planned to be built after the first phase is opened, are expected to follow the traditional Andalucian design of the existing shopping and leisure centre, and an extra 600 parking spaces will be built.
