INCOMPLETE: Sidra medical centre.
OHL wants €783.5 million compensation after Qatar rescinded its €1.759 billion contract to build the Sidra medical centre.
The Qatar Foundation and the Spanish construction company parted ways last July after the former accused OHL of “lack of diligence” and failing to meet deadlines.
The project was 95 per cent completed and due to be handed over during the first four months of 2015, the company maintained. It initiated an arbitration process supervised by the International Chamber of Commerce because the Foundation’s accusations had no legitimate basis, OHL said. The €783.5 million compensation claim excludes “additional concepts yet to be calculated” and could rise higher, OHL warned.
