HUERVAL OVERA has celebrated its 276th edition of the annual Noche se las Lumbres event.
The events began with Mass at the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion, followed by the procession accompanied by townsfolk, religious representatives and members of the town council. The mayor of the town, Domingo Fernandez, joined residents of Huercal Overa to carry candles.
Lights in the town were dimmed to add extra ambience while fires were lit in the streets and the candles were carried. Special attention was paid to the lighting of candles in the Plaza de la Constitucion and Plaza del Cura Valera. After everyone had congregated, residents and visitors celebrated until late into the night with food and drink, ensuring that again a strong town tradition was honoured.
