MIJAS Local Police force dealt with 246 citizens’ complaints in 2014.
The complaints section of the police force deals mainly with complaints and petitions related to problems with neighbours or illegal activities.
When citizens to go the police station to lodge a complaint or seek help, the request is passed on to the correct department, which investigates the issue and informs those concerned.
Local Police councilor, Juan Carlos Gonzalez, said that problems are usually solved as soon as police officers make a visit, but a follow-up service is given when necessary and the affected parties are informed on what to do if the problem continues.
“The Local Police is a friend of our citizens. The service aims to help residents solve security and neighbour relations issues,” Gonzalez explained.
