Free parking not popular with Calpe shopkeepers

CALPE Town Hall’s decision to suspend paid ‘zone azul’ parking is proving unpopular with shopkeepers.

Drivers can now park without paying in all streets but in a snap poll by the council, 66 per cent of business-owners asked for a return of blue zone areas.  Sixty-five per cent claimed that it was now harder for clients to find parking spaces.

The majority agreed with the town hall’s decision to leave Pintor Sorolla, La Pinta and Blasco outside the paid area, but were in favour of a ‘green zone’ where parking charges would apply only in the morning.
