Work to start on Almuñecar neigbourhood’s flood trouble

RESIDENTS of the Almuñecar neighborhood La Paloma are close to seeing the area’s major flooding problems solved.

Back in September 2007, heavy rainstorms caused the death of one resident and substantial damage to the area.

Deficiencies in the community’s sewage system were putting homes and commercial facilities at risk of flooding and causing great concern amongst the citizens.

However, with a budget of €962,000, the Water and Services Department of the Costa Tropical have launched a project to solve the serious problem, especially in the areas of Barrio de San Sebastian and those that go along the CN 340 road.

Mayor of Almuñecar, Trinidad Herrera, explained during a visit to the site that the works would start shortly to improve the safety and quality of life of the area’s residents.
