THE AEMET Spanish State Weather Office has issued a special warning due to a cold front heading for Spain from continental Europe.
A mass of cold air is due to arrive in Spain tomorrow, February 4, and stay until at least Tuesday, causing considerable drops to temperatures across the country and the Balearic Islands.
Icy conditions can be expected in inland areas and some coastal areas, especially in western Cantabria, Menorca and Mallorca. Minimum temperatures of -10ºC are forecast for mountain areas and -5ºC in the north and east of the country.
Maximum temperatures are also expected to be low, under 5ºC across much of mainland Spain and 0ºC or less at high altitudes, especially in the Pyrenees.
The front is relatively dry as it comes from the continent, meaning rain is not particularly likely in areas other than Northern Spain and the Balearic Islands.
