Mijas renovations planned for this year

CONSIDERABLE renovation work is planned for the Plaza Virgen de la Peña and surrounding areas in Mijas Village this year.

The work, which has been put out to public tender with offers accepted until February 26, has a budget of €4.7 million and will affect 12 parts of the village, including the square itself, which will be turned into a pedestrian area, and nearby streets.

Councillor Marcos Cortes stressed that the nursery in the Virgen de la Peña area would not be demolished under any circumstances, and that the work calendar had been set to create as little disruption as possible to commercial, tourist and school activity, with work on the square itself planned between October 1 and December 31.
