SPANISH shoemakers, including 18 from Elche, are in Germany at a trade fair in Dusseldorf. The aim is to promote Spanish footwear to visitors and the media, both at a national and international level.
The firms represented have travelled to Germany through the Federation of Footwear Industries of Spain, and have high expectations for the event as Germany is the country’s third largest buyer of Spanish footwear, in both value and number of exports to the country, representing 9 per cent of foreign sales in the sector. The average export price to this market has also increased by 10 per cent.
Sales during the first eleven months of 2014 reached €218.3 million (10.2 million pairs) with an increase of 12.8 per cent in value and 2.5 per cent by volume.
