AN INCREASING number of young people in Alicante have to stay in their parental home as wages are lower than the cost of housing, while thousands of others are moving abroad for work.
A report titled the ‘Socio Situation of Youth in Valencia’ said that those aged 30 and under are struggling to buy their own home and suggests more should be done to promote policies that create rental housing under special conditions for this age group and to prevent emigration. In 2013 more than 5,000 young people from Alicante went abroad to find work.
