Shakira and Pique welcome second baby boy

COLOMBIAN artist Shakira and Barcelona Football Club player Gerard Pique have welcomed their second child.

Their son was born yesterday (January 29) just after 11pm at the Quiron Teknon hospital in Barcelona, the same location she chose two years ago to give birth to her first child, Milan.

The 37-year-old singer underwent a pre-planned caesarean, as was reported by Catalan newspaper El Periodico, giving birth to a three-kilo (6lb10oz) baby boy named Sasha.

During the birth, she was assisted by a team formed entirely by women, lead by Dr Carlota Garcia-Valdecasas who commented: “Shakira is a charming patient.”

Shakira was admitted at the hospital at around 7pm with contractions and the couple tried to keep her arrival as secret as possible to avoid crowds at the hospital’s front door.

They launched a baby shower on Facebook only a week ago, requesting fans donate funds and supplies to children through Unicef.
