ALMUÑECAR’S programme of free cultural excursions begins with a visit to the Puente de Noy necropolis this Saturday, January 31.

The council’s Culture and Education department and Archaeology section have created the programme to encourage locals and visitors to discover local heritage attractions.

Olga Ruano, Culture and Education councillor, said that the first visit would be to the Puente de Noy Phoenician necropolis, which was chosen to kick off the programme by popular demand.

Tours are planned for the last Saturday of each month with sites including San Miguel castle, the Archaeological Museum and the Tesorillo fort.

Ruano added that sites in Malaga and the Costa Tropical would also be included in the programme to provide a broader view of the history of Almuñecar.

The tours are free of charge but limited to 30 people each. Those interested can sign up at the tourist office or the Culture and Education department.
