A COIN man has been given a one-year jail sentence, fined €4,500 and ordered to demolish his illegally-built house and swimming pool.
After buying the plot of land with his parents, the accused applied for a renovation licence from the town hall, then went ahead and demolished the existing building before starting to build a 224-square-metre house and swimming pool.
Although the licence application was rejected as the land was not classified for construction, and the accused was notified, he continued to build, but will now have to face the consequences.
