TWO Madrid school kitchens had to close for a few days due to a plague of rats.
Leon Felipe and Lope de Vega schools in Leganes, Madrid, were plagued by rats after drain-lids were lifted, but the situation had been solved in one of the schools, the Education Board declared.
An education department spokesperson stressed that outside catering companies had been contracted to provide school meals until the unwelcome visitors were dealt with.
Union por Leganes independent party declared that there were excessive rats in the locality and criticised the council’s silence on the matter.
