THE Junta de Andalucia regional government fostered the creation of 554 businesses and 689 jobs in the Axarquia in 2014.
Through its Centres for Enterprise Development (CADE), the regional government has contributed to the town’s economy with €4.8 million.
Of the entrepreneurs, 57.23 per cent were aged between 25 and 40 years, followed by those above 40 years who represented 30.92 per cent, while 8.84 per cent was composed of young people of 25-years-old or less.
Out of those 622 business creators, 357 were men and 265 were women.
The education level of new owners was topped by those with secondary studies (73.8 per cent), followed with great distance by those entrepreneurs with university studies (20.42 per cent).
Of new businesses, 81.59 per cent are related to the service industries (425).
