SOLIDARY Nerja residents have donated almost 13 tonnes of clothes and shoes in 2014.
Five clothing drop-off containers are located in the town, in Calle Madrid, Avenida de Pescia, Ciudad Deportiva, Calle Mirto and Maro.
Through these points the NGO Social Organisation for Humanitarian Action (OSAH), collected a total of 12,990 kilograms of donated products amongst which were not only clothes, but also shoes and used toys, according to councillor for Urban Ecology, Jose Miguel Garcia.
The most successful drop-off point was the one located in Avenida de Pescia, which raised 3,520 kilos.
“The result goes to show Nerja residents’ great solidarity, as donated products will help needy families around the town and other people through projects carried out by OSAH in the Dominican Republic and Haiti,” stated Mr Garcia.
