ON YOUR MARKS: Previous TUI Marathon of Palma.
RUNNERS, athletes and fitness fanatics will be clamouring to sign up for the Palma de Mallorca Marathon as registration opened this week for the October event.
Replacing the TUI Marathon after 11 successful years, the Palma de Mallorca Marathon will hope to build on the success of last year’s race, which attracted a record 11,000 participants.
Accredited by the Spanish Athletics Federation, Palma lends a unique backdrop to the marathon, to be held on Sunday, October 18. Runners will take in some of the area’s most beautiful sites along the urban course, including the Parque del Mar and Palma bay promenade before finishing at the Cathedral.
In 2015 there will be children’s run added to the itinerary, along with a half marathon, a 10k run, a breakfast run and a Palma run.
