Periana: a route that will welcome disabled hikers
THE Great Trail of Malaga (La Gran Senda) is now more accessible than ever with the adaptation of seven paths for people with disabilities.
A report carried out by the Environment Department of Malaga Provincial Council has confirmed that a total of 50.5 kilometres of the path is available and adapted to suit the needs of this community.
“Our main goal is to turn the Gran Senda into a first-level tourist, sport and environmental attraction that everyone can enjoy,” said Head of the Provincial Council, Elias Bendodo.
Those people with disabilities interested in participating in hiking routes can visit www.gransendademalaga.es, where they will be able to choose from the adapted paths.
Amongst the Axarquia routes available for disabled people are the stretches between Malaga and Rincon de la Victoria, Velez-Malaga and Torrox, and the route in Periana.
