EL PUCHE: Illegal traders every Sunday.

THE Almeria Council will again attempt to close the illegal market held every Sunday in the El Puche neighbourhood.

Last Sunday, stallholders were given pamphlets that read: “The Almeria Council informs you that from January 25, 2015, you will not be allowed to carry out street trading of any sort in this area (El Puche), or other areas of the town, except for the six authorised markets established in the municipal regulations.”

With this warning, the council is encouraging the sellers to stop putting up their stalls without the intervention of local authorities.

However, a local and national police deployment has already been prepared to take action on January 25.

“More than 200 illegal sellers gather every Sunday, almost twice as many as the first time we tried to dismantle it, preventing the bus from accessing the area. In fact, we have received many complaints from neighbours because of it,” said councillor for Safety, Maria Muñiz.
