FORMER mayor of Bigastro, Raul Valerio Medina (PSPV-PSOE) has appeared in court accused of irregularities, misappropriation of public funds and fraud.

Speaking in Orihuela court he defended himself saying he was innocent of anything he has been accused of and that everyone who worked on the council during his term between 2008 and 2011 had worked in the correct manner.

He said “nothing had been proved” against him and there was a “failure to demonstrate in record anything” he was accused of and said: “I understand that during my tenure everything was done correctly and it has been clarified that contributions to the Social Security for workers were paid in both 2007 and 2009” responding to claims by the current mayor and councillor for Finance.
