PARKING PLAN: more spaces are wanted in Calle Torralba in La Zenia
APPROVAL is awaited from the Ministry of Development on the proposal for 24 parking spaces in Calle Maestro Torralba in Urbanisation La Zenia, in the area that the Ministry wanted to close a few months ago to relieve congestion on the roundabout.
Orihuela has submitted the proposal for the spaces and for two bus stops on the N-332, to replace the ones that were suppressed following the widening of the road.
Residents and local businesses have called for more parking spaces in the area after around 60 were lost in Avenida Villamartin following the opening of Zenia Boulevard shopping centre.
Once the project is approved by the Ministry of Development, the Department of Costa, Beaches and International Residents has allocated €126,000 to carry out the works. Councillor Martina Scheurer has requested that the project be approved within the shortest possible time so that work can begin soon and the residents of the Orihuela Costa can benefit.
