QUEUES: shoppers head to sales to make the most of early discounts
JANUARY sales are officially underway in the Region and after a Christmas campaign that saw establishments report a 10 per cent increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2013, businesses were hoping for a similar boost to the start of the year.
Alicante’s El Corte Ingles store said they were offering discounts across all departments of up to 50 per cent especially on winter clothing as early season sales were low due to the late arrival of winter and cold weather. El Corte Ingles in Elche reported “a good footfall” during the first day despite many people having just returned to work after the holidays.
Shoppers in Alicante province are expected to spend an average of between €60-80 in the sales per person.
