THE Red Cross will continue delivering meals to hundreds of senior citizens in Palma in 2015.
Palma Council decided to extend for another year the €1.3 million service provided by the Red Cross since March 2014 – and paid for by the Council – thus making it possible for 700 people to continue getting their meals delivered to their home.
Most of the senior citizens benefiting from the service are women (60.83 per cent) and older than 75 (68 per cent) and the large majority request lunch and dinner on a daily basis.
The service was created to support the autonomy of senior citizens at home. It also offers free time and entertainment activities.
