An active year for Denia residents

OUT AND ABOUT: Montgo - not far to go now.

DENIA Town Hall organised 49 activities for 5,316 people during this year’s Environmental Education programme and the Environment Department collaborated with local schools on 16 different projects for 4,369 pupils.

Activities followed guidelines set out in Spain’s White Paper on Environmental Education and included visits to the Mediterranean garden in Pedreguer’s L’Albarda Villa and expeditions to the Molins beach to regenerate the dunes with native plants.

The Actividades en Familia programme scheduled events for Sunday so that families could enjoy them together. Activities included plays, music, dance and conjuring, although outdoor pursuits were not forgotten with bicycle outings as well as conducted tours of places of local interest.

‘Discover Denia’ was another initiative, with outings in July and August organised for late afternoon and evening to avoid the summer heat. Night-time events included astronomy expeditions and a conducted tour of San Antonio marine reserve.
