Stage production is a roaring success

PURRFECT: Students from Laude San Pedro International College perform Cats.

SEVENTY schoolchildren from Malaga took to the stage to perform a play on the National Day of Children with Cancer, just before Christmas.

The play, ‘Together for a Dream’, features famous pieces of music from West End hit shows such as Cats, Rock of Ages and West Side Story.

The musical was held at Marbella City Theatre and the youngsters, supported by their scools, El Limonar of Malaga and Laude San Pedro International College, put on the event in order to raise much needed funds for other children in the province who are suffering from oncological diseases.

The on-stage antics kept the audience entertained with carefully staged routines, a variety of costumes, scenery, make-up and choreography.

Marbella Town Hall offered the assistance of members of staff from the Department of Culture, and former coach of the Spanish national basketball team, Sergio Scariolo, was also in attendance.

“I want my kids to understand the importance of being generous to those who need it most,” he said. Scariolo is president of the Foundation Cesare Scariolo, set up following the death of his father from leukaemia.
