Classic yachts for sale

TWO classic ocean racing yachts have been put up for sale in order to make way for the new breed of 2015 boats.

The Clipper Round the World yachts have been listed for sale with broker Berthon International, and start from €311,000. According to Yachting & Boating News, the ocean racing yachts, which have taken dozens of crew around the globe, are being sold to make way for the new generation of Clipper 70s. The Clipper 68 Ed Dubois designed yacht was the backbone of the Clipper Race fleet between 2005 and 2012, until the Clipper 70 was introduced in 2013.

Clipper is calling the sales as a “unique opportunity to own and operate a superb sailing machine.”

According to Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who briefed Ed Dubois on the design, the yacht was designed so that it could be sailed safely by amateur crews, but also as a good ocean racing boat.

“So anyone looking for a good strong rugged boat that’s reliable and easy to sail, that can take anything you throw at it, and the Southern Ocean takes some beating, these are the boats,” he said.

The 68-foot yachts for sale have berths for up to 20 crew and come equipped with a comprehensive sail wardrobe by Hyde Sails. Immediate delivery is available, ready for the 2015 season.
