SUNSEEKER: One of the best-known luxury yacht manufacturers.
LUXURY yacht maker Sunseeker has axed 240 jobs, the majority of which were voluntary redundancies or ‘natural’ leavers.
The company – famous for providing yachts for James Bond movies and one of the best-known luxury yacht manufacturers in the world – had previously announced that up to 300 jobs would go as part of a ‘strategic review’ in order to increase efficiency.
“The skilled craftsmen on our shop floor remain key to the business and as expected, the restructuring has had minimal impact on our direct boat-building activities,” said a statement from Sunseeker. “The overall outlook for the business remains positive and the board believes Sunseeker is now in the best shape possible to maintain its strong position at the forefront of the global leisure marine industry from our base in Poole (Dorset, UK).”
Sunseeker currently employs more 2,000 people at seven different sites in Dorset.
