YOUNG people in Huercal Overa have taken part in a course with the European Voluntary Service.
The course, part of the Erasmus programme, was held at the Huercal Overa women’s centre. The youngsters now have the opportunity to work in a number of volunteer projects encompassed within the scheme across a number of European countries.
The course focussed on the practical aspects of volunteering: eligibility, potential tasks to be performed, finding host entities and the importance of English skills. Participants showed great interest and appreciation of the wide range of opportunities available to them to learn, train and share experiences beyond their normal geographical borders.
Council representative Monica Navarro commented: “These experiences are enriching both on an educational level and personal development, extending the certainty of volunteer employability.”
Mayor Domingo Fernandez, also encouraged the young Huercal Overa volunteers to, “learn and be part of the innovative initiative.”
