TRADITIONALLY the Cuadrillas (Four Groups) meet every year in Huercal Overa and 2014 was no different as the crews got together for the 19th edition.
The municipal Teatro de Villa hosted the event which was filled with music and dance. The event began with a welcome by the Alcolea group and a big feed of churros with chocolate while the groups were welcomed by the mayor of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernandez. The churros were followed by a singing of Mass by the Malaga group which led into an extravaganza of guitars, mandolins and partying.
Before the residents knew it, the afternoon had arrived. With it came another feast while groups from Velez Rubio and Huercal Overa entertained with more music and dance.
The mayor thanked the groups for their participation and said: “We work to keep our traditions alive and with this event there were many participants, including many children, so this part of our legacy will continue for many years. Our purpose is that it is not lost and is passed onto our younger generations.”
