SECRETARY of State, Andres Garcia Lorca, has announced that a cash injection of €400,000 has been earmarked for the repair of Almeria’s coastline.
Adra, Almeria, Berja, Cuevas del Almanzora, El Ejido and Mojacar beaches are benefitting from the repairs after the coastline was racked by heavy storms at the end of November and early December.
The public company Tragsa will be responsible for the repairs and futureproofing which will include the replenishment of sand as well as repairs to jetties and coastal roads.
Garcia highlighted the work saying: “The efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment will improve the state of the coast in Almeria province following the damage to beaches in November.” Work started on Monday December 22.
Almeria’s beaches attract a large number of visitors each year, keen to enjoy the sand and sea views as well as the gastronomy and areas of historical note that are promoted through the tourism service.
