Weekend Sport – new for Almeria

THE first six months of business for Weekend Sport in Vera Playa have been phenomenal, with sales surpassing all expectations at this friendly store for bicycle sales, repairs and service.

The in-house repair team at the store has recently completed a specialised three day mechanical course that ensures they are up to date on techniques and up to the highest standards.

To be able to sell specialised products, which Matt describes as: “One hell of a brand,” this course is essential so it’s a massive string to Weekend Sport’s bow.

The owner, Matt Shatford, is still racing and has risen to the top 15 in the National Master 30 category although he expects to be in the top 10 in the next year.

Passionate about cycling, Matt’s enthusiasm and love for the sport sees him perfectly placed to share his expertise with his customers. Matt has lived in Mojacar on and off for around 30 years, and knows not only his market, but also the local area and its people extremely well.

Weekend Sport sells a wide range of mountain bikes and road bikes, as well as hybrid and electric bikes, plus an excellent range of quality accessories, with everything the keen cyclist will need to support this popular activity. They also stock a great range of triathlon sportswear and sunglasses, and the winter range is now in stock. The electric bikes, in particular, are doing extremely well and sales are booming.

They are official distributors for Specialized, which is used by biking champions such as Mark Cavendish and Tony Martin and serious bike enthusiasts will know that the brand is the best out there, seeing it as the winning kit in serious championships such as the Tour de France.

Fancy getting together with some like-minded individuals? Then have a chat to Weekend Sport who also organise group tours, taking you and your bike around the local area, enjoying that fresh air and taking in a feast of stunning views. Tours are for a minimum of five people and bikes can be provided of course.
