Male bonding is good for men

STRESS REDUCTION: Male macaques experienced less tension in all-male groups.

SCIENTISTS claim that a night out with the lads is good for men.

Researchers say it helps them relax and is more likely to lower a man’s stress levels than time spent with his partner, or with his family.

Scientists from Germany’s University of Gottingen studied groups of Barbary macaques, a type of ape which exhibits human-like behaviour in its social groups.

They discovered that stress-related illnesses among macaques only seem to occur among females or both sexes within a pair.

Monitoring the levels of stress hormones among the male apes, they discovered it was higher when they were with their partner or family members compared to when in groups of other males.
