LA VILA: A great result for their promotion hopes.

LA VILA Rugby Club sit at the top of the league after a convincing away win over Hospitalet from Barcelona.
In what was expected to be a tough match, La Vila were without captain Paco Martinez, Hernan Quirelli and Gaston de la Cruz through injuries, but with the help of new English prop Matthew Surman they brushed off their opposition for an emphatic 0-25 win.
It was a great result to boost their promotion hopes.
Also winning away was La Vila’s women’s team who beat Elche 12-43. The second team, also away, lost 27-24 against Safor Gandia, in a tight match.
The Under-18’s also lost 23-22 away against Elche, but the under-16’s won 57-0, at home against Montcada Valencia.
The under-12’s, under-10’s and under-8’s travelled to Tabernes for a mini rugby festival.
Don’t miss the first team’s last home game before Christmas, Sunday December 21 at 12.30pm against Barcelona.
There will be free fried fish and seafood nibbles laid on for them by the Cofradia de Pescadores Villajoyosa.
There is still time to join the club as a member, as a player, or as a supporter, and they need all the help they can get.
They are still looking for players for their second senior team, they play in the local Alicante league, mainly, Denia, Alicante, Elche and Torrevieja.
Anyone wishing to go along will find La Vila Rugby Club situated at Carretera El Pantano, Villajoyosa. Take the motorway AP-7 exit Nº 66 (Villajoyosa).
At the first roundabout head for the mountain. It is about 1km from the Motorway exit nº 66.
Or take the Villajoyosa by-pass, and take the middle exit, at the first roundabout, bear right towards the motorway entrance and at the second roundabout bear left towards the mountain.
