A TELEVISION channel from Dubai broadcast the Boqueron festivity of Rincon de la Victoria to millions of viewers.
Journalists from the popular Dubai channel Alsharquiya travelled last September to Rincon de la Victoria to take part in the Boqueron festivity, an event featuring the town’s most important fish, the anchovy.
The Boqueron Festivity was held during September 26, 27 and 28, with the tasting of different sorts of anchovies recipes, a fish auction with proceeds going to the local Alzheimer’s charity association, concerts, a tapas route and activities for children. The three-day event drew around 25,000 people to Rincon de la Victoria’s promenade.
The 15 minute coverage features the festivity’s history, as well as interviews with the town’s residents. The Dubai based reporters also stressed the great hospitality they received and showed other tourist attractions of the town.
Head of the Tourism Department, Marta Martin, emphasised the importance of having the chance to share one of the town’s most popular festivities with millions of people.
Alsharquiya, has main offices in Dubai, London, Cairo and Iraq and broadcast the episode via satellite TV, reaching a wide audience including viewers in the United States and Australia.
Rincon de la Victoria Mayor, Francisco Salado stressed the importance of investing in such an event, and the importance of an advertising campaign that has taken information on the Axarquia town to many corners of the world.
