PIZZAS and Chinese takeaways could soon form part of a person’s ‘five-a-day’ diet.
The UK Department of Health is considering foods that have at least one portion of fruit or veg to carry the government’s official five-a-day logo, meaning pizzas with ham and pineapple, or Chinese takeaways with veg components will count towards a healthy diet.
The controversial decision would also include foods like baked beans, tinned soups, ready meals and sausages.
The five-a-day logo was launched by the Department of Health in 2003 to encourage healthier eating.
