Police praise horse sanctuary

OFFICIAL PRAISE: Chief of police and Rojales councillors visit Rescue Centre

THE new chief of local police of Rojales, Inaki Esparza, has praised the work of the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre.

He visited the Rojales, Alicante, centre with Councillors Lourdes Lopez, Marie Pierre Dubois and Derek Monks, as a new lame pony abandoned on waste ground, was being settled in. The visitors all highlighted the work done by centre founders Sue and Rod Weeding for their animal protection work.

“The new police chief was very impressed with what we were doing and said he’s happy to work with us because he considers it part of his job to protect animals from abuse,” Sue said. “With local elections coming up next year, I urge anybody that cares about animal welfare in Spain to vote and also to ask the parties about their animal welfare policies. It’s important that animal welfare becomes part of the agenda for the next election, as this is the only way we are going to progress things here in Spain.”

The centre welcomes any donations and sponsorships to help support their important work, with every single cent donated or spent in their eight charity shops across the Alicante province going towards the feeding and care of more than 80 horses, ponies and donkeys that live at the centre.
