OVER the coming festive weeks, not only can we expect some glamorous galas and glitzy gowns but also a host of charity events that will blow your mind.

Thanks to event organisers like Emma P Lopez of EventEmmalaga and Asesores de Comunicación, the press office run by the Spanish journalist Francisco Acedo Torregrosa, you can contribute to worthy organisations whilst having the time of your life.

Such is the case with the upcoming ‘Tea Party’ at the Hotel Kempinski in aid of Nuevo Futuro Estepona on December 10.

Christmas without a family can be a dreaded occasion, which is why helping this association at this time of year is particularly important. A non-profit organisation founded in 1968, Nuevo Futuro offers foster care and social development for children and young people deprived of a normal family environment.

Upon entering the luxurious doors of the Kempinski Hotel as of 6pm, we will be greeted by smiling faces and a Christmas market selling wonderfully original gifts at very affordable prices.

We will be entertained by Funky Vocals, a singing group from Fuengirola, the very talented teenager Fleur Weber and DJ Vicenzo Frangiamore, all donating their art and time for this worthy cause.

If you haven’t yet found your party frocks you’ll be in for a treat as fashion will also play an important role, with members of the Marbella Design Academy, Lauriane L’Eplattenier and Raissa Faber, showing their garments.

Plus a special appearance by Francisco Amaral, disciple of Lorenzo Caprile, Madrid’s top bridal wear designer, who will display his ball and wedding gowns. He’ll also be selling some of his creations at an exceptional price.

As with most local charity events, Pablo’s hair salons from Marbella will be ensuring that every model looks their best, and Lucia Romero of Renova Thermal Spa will be giving free massages and contributing to the many wonderful raffle prizes, all donated generously by various local companies, organisations and magazines.

There will be a special area for the kids too, so fun is guaranteed for all!

Entrance is completely free but if you’d like to partake of high tea for just €18, a sumptuous selection of cakes and different kinds of tea will also be served.

You can tune in to tonight’s Marbella Now TV programme (December 4 at 7.30pm) for a sneak preview of some of these amazing designers and their creations. I’ll be wearing them during the show, and speaking to the three designers mentioned.

And finally, a big thank you to Emma, Francisco and Costa Women’s Eunice O’Rourke, and to all the other collaborators that work so hard to help every child share in the joy of Christmas.
