THE campaign to raise €15,000 to send little Keira Alvarez Turner to the US for desperately-needed treatment has got off to a flying start thanks to the kind-hearted Costa community.
With a deadline of next August to raise the cash, €4,700 has already been made within the two weeks of the campaign with a sponsored head-shave featuring Keira’s mother, Debbie Turner, being the star event so far.
Debbie said: “We are just amazed with the amount raised, absolutely over the moon. The main donations so far have come from Original Charity Shop in Javea, the Shamrock netball team and Grant a Wish.” She added that other donations came from friends and family and a ‘bucket round’ in Levis Showboat bar in Benidorm where the head-shave was held.
Keira, who is six-and-a-half years old and suffers from cerebral palsy, needs to travel to the US for the specialist care which makes a huge difference to the quality of her life.
To make a donation or sponsor Debbie call 637 314 850 or email espanglish@hotmail.com. For more information on the therapies Debbie wants for Keira visit: www.believetherapy.com and www.centralfloridahyperbarics.com
