Torrevieja setting for The Cucuracha Club

CUCURACHA CLUB: cast and crew launch the film at the Tourist Office in Torrevieja

TORREVIEJA is to be the focus of a new international movie, currently in production in the city.

The Cucuracha Club is a spy thriller by Siesta Productions, which, with the support of the Town Hall is set to take film festivals by storm when completed next year. The self-funded independent film is drawing on the skills of local people who are all giving their time for free to be part of the community project.

Writer and actor Billie Anthony Gaddess is the man behind The Cucuracha Club who was inspired by actor Al Matthews, best known for his appearance in Aliens, to push forward with his script and start filming: “He encouraged the project and said we have already put together about €16million worth of film together from nothing. We have blagged jet ski’s, yachts, submarines, planes…and done things that people can only dream of.”

Former Eastenders actor Tom Watts has also already been in the city filming with Director Rai Woods reporting that just under half of the scenes have been shot. The rest should be completed early 2015 when the film will then go in to post-production.

A number of fundraising events are being hosted to help raise money and local businesses can be involved with product placement, for more information visit www.siesta-productions
