10 STEP COPING GUIDE:
1. Disbelief part one
He may have announced his engagement in the Times, but trawling through the internet once or twice for confirmation can’t hurt, can it?
2. Disbelief part two
Keep checking all the media, it might have been a misprint.
3. Call a friend
Confirm if they have heard, and discuss all the ways that you would have indeed made a much more suitable partner.
4. Research
Look up Sophie Hunter, check Wikipedia, there must be something negative about her, if not quietly realise that she is amazing and silently congratulate both her and Cumberbatch for having such great taste, and then feel overwhelmingly sad.
5. Ice-cream helps
Bundle yourself up in a scarf, while crying through an episode of Sherlock.
6. Drown sorrows with wine
As above.
7. Sharing is caring
Take to Twitter and join in the lamenting tweets with all the other would be Mrs Cumberbatches?
8. Disbelief part 3
Can’t hurt to check again if the engagement is still on… He might have changed his mind.
9. Rage
Start angrily crossing out all the love-hearts and names that you have been doodling all over the place and resort back to tips 5 and 6. (ice-cream and wine)
10. It will get better
Resolve yourself to the fact that there are many gorgeous men out there that you can wrap in scarfs and ‘solve mysteries with.’
