Big Brother is watching China

THE reality show Big Brother that monitors the daily lives of contestants 24 hours a day (yes, even whilst they are sleeping), is now coming to China.

Endemol, the creators of the reality TV show which was originally shown in The Netherlands, before being screened in over 50 countries, has recently signed a deal with China’s largest online video company, Youku Tudou.

There was a government decision made three years ago, ordering satellite channels to restrict the amount of reality television, dating shows and talk shows due to ‘vulgar tendencies’.

Previous episodes of the UK version of the series have included a bit more vulgarity than your average chat or dating show, including under-the-table sexual antics, Jacuzzi hook ups and racist slurs, so we don’t think the government will be pining for the show to be aired on satellite anytime soon.

The show will last 10 weeks and is likely to be aired at the beginning of next year for online viewers.
