Nerja competition for young musicians

YOUNG MUSICIANS: helping them further their studies

EDUCATION and Culture department of Nerja town hall have announced their first Young Musicians Competition.

Councillor Gema Garcia explained that this initiative aims to help young members of the municipal band and municipal music school to further their studies.

The competition will have a beginners’ category for pupils aged seven to nine, and a medium level category for those between the ages of 10 and 14.

Inscriptions began on Monday, October 20 and will be accepted until Friday, November 14. The competition itself will be held on Friday November 28 and Saturday November 29 at the Centro Cultural Villa de Nerja.

Each category will have three prizes. First prize of the beginners’ category will consist of €150, a scholarship for the 2014/2015 academic year and a voucher for €30 worth of supplies from Pianos Francis. Second place winner will receive €100, a partial scholarship and a Pianos Francis voucher for €30. Third prize will be €80 plus the aforementioned voucher.

Medium level category winners will receive €250, a complete scholarship and €30 worth of supplies for first place; €150, a partial scholarship and €30 worth of supplies for second place and €120 and €30 worth of supplies for third place.

A Young Values Prize consisting of €100, a scholarship and €30 worth of supplies will also be rewarded which all participants will be able to compete for.
