Chelsea chief exec bids farewell

Cordon Press

CHELSEA chief executive Ron Gourlay has announced his departure from Stamford Bridge this week as he moves on from the premier league club to “pursue new business challenges”.

Having been with the London club for a decade – five of those years as a chief executive – Gourlay has experienced the highs and lows of different seasons as well as several league cup wins and five very different managers, from Rafa Benetiz to Jose Mourinho.

Gourley said it was “a privilege to have played a role in the club’s considerable achievements both on and off the pitch over the last 10 years”.  He has issued a ‘thank you’ for all the support received from club owner Roman Abramovic.

The club’s chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia will be taking over Gourlay´s responsibilities until another appointment is made.
