MYSTERY FILM: Alfaz mayor Vicente Arques with the filmmakers, Luis Mottola and councillors
THE Albir lighthouse will feature in a full-length film by Alicante filmmakers Paco Amat and Alfredo Navarro.
Entitled ‘El Faro, otra dimension’ (The Lighthouse, another dimension), shooting is expected to start soon. The film is their most ambitious project to date, said Elda-born Navarro during a recent visit to Alfaz del Pi.
Other locations include Cabo de la Nao, Tabarca Island, Santa Pola and Biar in Alicante, as well as Almeria, Japan and the US.
Navarro declined to elaborate on the plot, which centres on a lighthouse-keeper “surrounded in mystery.” The principal role is played by the popular actor Luis Mottola who has appeared in some of Spanish television’s most popular series. Once completed, it will be previewed at the Alfaz Film Festival.
“The project is born of enthusiasm, love and affection for self-sufficiency,” said Paco Amat. “There are no official subsidies but we do have the kind of help that is even more important than money.”
