Ferrari’s former president has confirmed that Formula One driver Fernando Alonso will be leaving Ferrari this season as he seeks to win another driver’s championship.
Alonso previously won titles in 2005 and 2006 with Renault. After joining Ferrari he has been beaten by Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and was runner-up several times to Sebastian Vettel, who is said to be possibly replacing Alonso as he has just parted ways with Red Bull.
It is rumoured that Alonso will be making a move to McLaren in pursuit of a more stimulating environment and the opportunity to win more championships before his career is over, but this could potentially push Jenson Button, 2009 winner, out of the picture as his contract with the British Formula One team is coming to an end.
