FIREMEN were called out twice to rescue climbers trapped on Marina Alta landmarks.
Experts from the Alicante province Fire-fighting Consortium were first called to winch a 38-year-old Madrid man to safety as he tried to scale the Cala dels Testos cliffs in Benitachell.
Two hours later the Consortium’s helicopter was mobilised to rescue a 36-year-old Alicantino dangling 50 metres above the Llimoners gully in Fleix in the Vall de Laguart.
The rescue was complicated, the firemen said afterwards, as they first had to cut his climbing rope in order to free him.
