DURING a private audience with the Queen today, Angelina Jolie was made an honorary dame in recognition of her campaign against sexual violence.
Jolie, named Hollywood’s highest paid actress, was presented with the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George at Buckingham Palace by her Majesty herself.
Regardless of her American citizenship, Jolie received the honour from Britain. She joins the few non-British that have received this level of honour including the knighted Irishman, Bob Geldof.
The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, has described Jolie as a “fierce and fearless advocate” and that her dedication to campaigning could overtake her successful film career as her lasting legacy.
